The Brahman Bull That Kicked Me-Western Cattle Art-SC Chandler

I was kicked by one of these decades ago on my grandads South Carolina farm. This is a study sketch painting for a larger version on canvas, part of a new set of work anticipating a big change coming, hopefully soon, if not sooner. Tomorrow if I could. Now!
Long years ago, three and a half decades to be exact, I started a series here in the deep south with the same anticipation. It was foiled, both good and bad. I still managed to get part of it right as west as I could go without falling into the ocean. Well if poverty is an ocean I surely fell hard out there-no way around that-foiled! This time the reins will be pulled in the fatherland...rest in peace.
And I will bury this sword at the Georgia state line.

Cradling Their Stock Georgia Red Mud Paintings

Well, I guess I have another series within a series again...
and I'm sure it will mean more to me than anyone else...
to see it go off somewhere for nothing just to turn up again somewhere else eventually and the story lost...
their pockets get lined, years later their kids go to college, it hangs somewhere for glances...
and the story is lost...
I will just keep it with mine and cradle them, burn this library to the goddamn ground in the end.

Been A While-Steven Chandler Art

I have not posted here in over a year. I have some catching up to do. I sort of fell into a few movie rolls, big movies, big stars and a featured part on a big TV show-long story. Here though, it is all about the art. Our on-going Hurricane Helene disaster is still very much on-going, but I have been trying to do new work, mostly laid out on the floor with my good friend L4 herniated disk. I cannot see a doctor in my country, so self-medicate and cuss, that's about it. More updates soon and maybe, finally, an actual web site.
-summer 2025, some of my new, realist portrait series, flat on the floor, with heating pad.
